Next-Gen Space Solutions for Earth’s Resources and Ecosystems_By Students
22/09/2025 - 09/01/2026
BACKGROUND
Today, thanks to technological advancements, we are entering a new era where space innovation is transforming how we explore the universe and improve life on Earth.
In aerospace, upstream technologies cover the early stages of space missions, like rocket launches and satellite development, while downstream technologies use space data for practical applications, such as satellite communications, climate monitoring, and precision agriculture.
Together, upstream and downstream are creating a space ecosystem that opens new opportunities for industry, the environment, and society— pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.
CHALLENGE
Teams are challenged to develop innovative business ideas using upstream and downstream space technologies to address real world issues like sustainability, connectivity and resource management.
The integration of these technologies becomes a strategic driver to shape a future where space innovation can meaningfully improve people’s lives. For this purpose, students will be supported by tutors from the European Space Agency Business Incubation Center – ESA BIC Turin. Key elements of the project will include:
• Problem identification
• Strategic and technical analysis
• Solution development
• Market potential
• Feasibility and sustainability
