BACKGROUND
Leva is an engineering company that designs complex mechatronic systems to connect people, brands, and spaces, fostering engagement and exploration in immersive environments. By combining innovative engineering, new entertainment technologies, and human-machine interaction, Leva creatively supports artistic directors, architects, and artists, enabling them to bring bold visions to life.
An example of this philosophy is the transformation of airports – typically hectic transit areas – into spaces of wonder through public art and interactive installations. A new kinetic installation featuring oscillating pendulums and synchronized LED screens will create a dynamic experience, enhancing the atmosphere and emotionally engaging travelers, while showcasing the potential of precision engineering.
CHALLENGE
Design and engineer a kinetic installation to be placed in the retail area of an international airport, aimed at capturing passengers’ attention and achieving the following objectives:
- Reduce the perceived stress of passengers in transit
- increase the average dwell time in the commercial area
The installation must be kinetic/mechatronic, featuring elements with controlled movement combined with media technologies such as LEDs, holograms, projections, interactive sensors, or other digital tools consistent with the intended experience.
IMPORTANT: The challenge is primarily technical: the focus is not on artistic creativity, but on the ability to develop functional, solid, and robust engineering systems.
