Design of a concept car networking in the digitalized mobility world_By STELLANTIS
23/09/2024 - 11/01/2025Background:
Beyond 2030, the widespread deployment of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) faces significant challenges in the technology landscape. While opportunities abound, including leveraging big data for traffic awareness and utilizing advanced technologies like 6G cellular networks and Low Earth Orbit Satellites (LEO), there are challenges to overcome.
Data availability, cybersecurity concerns, interoperability of communication systems, and regulatory issues. Stellantis’ challenge is on seizing opportunities and on tackling these challenges to design and implement, in a simulated environment, a CAV prototype as cutting edge of automotive digitalization, as if the concept car is to be presented on January 2031.
Challenge:
The challenge is on a new concept car immersed in the digitalized mobility world, minimizing the use of car electronics for its mobility, with real time off-board data processing.
Key objectives:
- Offer car users unique experience with real time digital twin traffic awareness;
- Utilize SAE L4/5, integrate real time data from the car, other vehicles, any sources of related data;
- Target scenarios from urban traffic to extra-urban and highways;
- Process data externally to the car, correlated to the context and route details from start to end;
- Integrate high tech for connected and automated cars;
- Consider impacts on car costs.
