The need to transfer patients on stairs can present significant challenges for healthcare workers, with potential risks to patient and worker safety.<br \/>\nTo address these challenges effectively, a combination of practical skills, appropriate devices and procedures, awareness of risks and sensitivity to individual patient needs is required. This involves developing innovative medical devices, also considering the psychological well-being of patients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Challenge:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe aim of the Challenge is to design a solution capable of improving the transport of patients on stairs, through the use of emergency vehicles such as spinal boards, spoon stretchers and wheelchairs, integrating it with a tracked system.<br \/>\nThe device must be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work autonomously, automatically adjusting based on the angle of the steps to allow you to keep the workload balanced and safeguard the patient&#8217;s safety;<\/li>\n<li>Minimize the effort of the rescue personnel, who would only have the task of controlling the descent or ascent of the tracked system through a controller;<\/li>\n<li>Increase the level of safety for patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/didattica.polito.it\/pls\/portal30\/gap.pkg_guide.viewGap?p_cod_ins=01SKBPG&amp;p_a_acc=2025&amp;p_header=S&amp;p_lang=&amp;multi=N\"><strong>Clik here for the syllabus!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Download the pdf to discover if your degree programme recognizes you curricular or extra curricular credits for this challenge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background: In a constantly evolving healthcare context, the optimization of patient transport processes plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient and safe care.
